In January, members of the Xtreme Tire Garage team were invited to attend the Michelin Canada Winter Tire Event at Circuit Mécaglisse in Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci, Quebec – about an hour north of Montreal.
The Michelin Canada Winter Tire Event is an outdoor event that includes side-by-side product comparisons, tire science and design seminars, as well as new and future product introductions.
All this is a reminder of how one can learn from doing direct, back-to-back testing. For comparison purposes, we, to the best of our ability have ensured the accuracy of our tools, instruments, and the conditions. All driving was dedicated on winter tires —not just because they’re mandated during the winter season in Quebec —but because they make a difference in just about every corner of Canada since their compounds remain sticky in cold weather. Once the temperature drops to just 7˚C – winter tire performance is superior to that of all-seasons for acceleration, braking, and handling.
Our team also had the opportunity to test the latest tires on a track in a full day of test driving. Experiencing in real-time the limits and handling characteristics of many tires in the most extreme winter conditions. We compared everything from siping and tread marks to acceleration and steering. We tested tires to determine how well they upheld in snow and icy conditions, including how they gripped different surfaces, calculated braking distances, and processed where driving adjustments needed to be made.
At Xtreme Tire Garage, we strive to stay in touch with the latest technology and innovations that involve our industry. With this information, we are able to better educate our customers on the best tire choice for their needs. Come in and let us help you find the best suited tires for your car.
